Challenge Guidelines:

The guidelines explained below are based on registration rules that each team must sign to participate along with some additional points. By participating in the challenge, it is expected that the teams understand and agree to the guidelines posted below.

1. Your team intends to participate in the challenge using the provided dataset.

2. Your team will use the provided data only in the scope of the challenge and neither pass it on to a third party nor use it for any publication or for commercial uses.

3. Your team is free to use any public dataset (including previous challenges) for pre-training models. If your team has private data that you are pre-training models on, then that data will need to be disclosed and publicly released upon submission to the challenge.

4. Your team will upload their results as described in the submission guidelines of the sub-challenges before the deadline including a final report.

5. The challenge is team-based, even if you are a team of one. Each member of your team is only a member of this team, and no other.

6. The results of the participating teams will be evaluated by the organizers using grand-challenge automated evaluation system and presented during EndoVis challenge.

7. Team submissions will only be considered successful if the final report is complete and submitted within the deadline.

8. Only complete submissions are eligible for cash prizes.

9. Only complete submissions which perform better than SurgToolLoc 2022 top  performing method (evaluated on this year's test set) will be eligible for case prizes. 10. Internal Intuitive teams are not eligible for prizes.

11. Your team must be present at the challenge with at least one team member and present your method if your team is in the top 3 finalists.

12. Participants understand and agree to include their results to allow for method comparisons. If you are a top finalist this information and your final report may be used to prepare a joint publication led by challenge organizer(s). The challenge organizers will determine authorship order for the paper, but each participating team will have at least one contributing co-author in the author list.

13. The data used for SurgToolLoc 2023 can only be used for publication purposes after the results of this challenge have been submitted for publication.
